AP-1 Specifications In addition to generating the servo control signal, the panel mounted AP-1 gyro-controller unit has a light-bar graph and a lighted inclinometer that give the same information obtained from a conventional turn coordinator. This part of the system operates all the time, regardless of whether the autopilot is engaged. The d.c. gyro motor that we use has gold contact fingers running on a silver armature. It is small, simple, and light. We estimate that the average life of the gyro to be about 1000 hours, at which time you might want to replace it. At this point in time, the price for a new gyro motor is about $100. Note: The gyro is not affected by aerobatics. |
